The winning logo design for Husson’s new Gracie Theater was created by NESCom’s Marketing student, Jon Griffiths.
“There’s tremendous talent in the graphic design students,” she says enthusiastically.
Ayotte explains that it is beneficial for the students when they are assigned work. They are able to build relationships with clients who offer constructive criticism on their projects.
“It’s wonderful,” says Ayotte “It’s a great experience for the students to hear feedback from an actual client rather than just from me and their fellow peers.”
The creation of the Gracie theater logo last spring also gave the students an excellent opportunity. Julie Green, Husson Director of Public Affairs, and other members of the administration, were the ones who chose Jon Griffiths’ logo. Green would offer the students feedback to improve their logos, and the students would go back and make revisions.
“It was quite a rigorous process that the logo designs from the students went through,” explains Ayotte.
As the spring semester approaches, NESCom’s Graphic Design II gears up for another exciting class. Ayotte hopes that the faculty and staff will take advantage of the students’ talents.
“We’re open to helping out any other departments on campus that might need some design work done.”
The graphic design students have also done work for outside non-profit organizations which include Eastern Area Agency on Aging and the Bangor Department of Health and Human Services.
