HUSSON -- The Husson lady Eagles wrapped up their season Saturday with a narrow 80-77 win over Lyndon State. Husson was playing with a chance to move up to second place in the North Atlantic Conference standings, but Colby-Sawyer defeated Castleton State, and clinched the second seed for themselves. Castleton had already wrapped up the top spot in the conference, finishing with a 16-2 conference record. As a result, Husson will remain the number three seed, and will take on UMaine-Farmington at home on Tuesday in the quarterfinals of the NAC tournament. UMF is seeded sixth.
The Eagles finished the season strong, winning their last five games, all against conference opponents. Husson finishes the year with a 15-3 record in the conference, and a 15-10 overall record.
UMaine-Farmington concludes the season with a 9-9 conference record, and a 10-14 overall record, capping off their season with a 81-47 victory over Thomas College.
The Lady Eagles won both games against UMF this season, winning on the road 70-58 back in January, and then again last Tuesday at Newman Gymnasium 58-57. Senior guard Emma Morrison led UMF in scoring in both games, putting up 16 points in the first game, and 21 points in the second meeting. For the Eagles, Brianna Hanscom led Husson with 14 points in the first contest, and Kelli Murray led the Eagles’ scoring effort in the second game with 19 points.
Tip-off is scheduled for Tuesday night at Newman Gymnasium starting at 5:30.
